Job summary

Inicio Group is seeking a Senior Residential Childcare Worker in Salford to lead shifts and support a close-knit team caring for children and young people. You will help create a stable, home-like environment and ensure safe routines and emotional support.

This senior role requires a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People/Residential Childcare (or equivalent), a full UK driving licence, and a commitment to safeguarding. Sleep-ins are paid separately.

Job description

Senior Residential Childcare Worker

Location: Salford, M44

• Salary: £36,404 (based on £15.50 per hour and £75 per sleep-in)
• £1,000 welcome bonus (£500 on successful completion of induction, £500 on successful completion of probation)
• Full time 35 hours with sleeps (average of 10 sleeps per month)
• 1 day on, 2 days off – average of 10 working days per month
• Sleep-in paid at £75 per sleep

This is a senior role, ideal for someone with experience in residential care who’s ready to step up, lead by example, and support others to thrive.

What you’ll do:

You’ll be part of a close-knit team helping children feel safe, supported, and optimistic about their future. As a Senior, you’ll also lead shifts and support colleagues.

You’ll:

• Build relationships based on trust, consistency and respect

• Be a calm and reliable presence during challenging moments
• Lead shifts, model good practice, and support colleagues on shift
• Oversee medication, risk assessments, and key records
• Champion education, wellbeing, life skills and positive experiences
• Help make the house feel like home

• You’ve worked in residential childcare or a similar setting
• You hold a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People/ Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
• You’re confident leading a shift and supporting other staff
• You’re emotionally resilient, calm in a crisis and motivated to make a difference
• You hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (essential)
