About us
The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to maximize and advocate for the holistic health of all children, young people, and the adults they will become through world-class research, education, and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. The 2024-29 GOS ICH strategy focuses on five scientific programmes. GOS ICH actively engages with children and families to ensure our work is relevant and appropriate to their needs. We generate funding by submitting high-quality proposals to public, charitable, and industrial funding bodies and disseminate research findings through publications in medical and scientific literature, targeting clinicians, policymakers, and the wider public. The Institute offers world-class education and training programs addressing the needs of students and professionals interested in child health. GOS ICH holds an Athena SWAN Charter Gold Award.
About the role
An opportunity has arisen within the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (UCL GOS ICH) for a highly motivated and talented cell and molecular biologist to undertake translational research in neuromuscular diseases. Startup funding is available.
About you
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline, with several years of postdoctoral experience in cell and molecular biology related to neuromuscular diseases. Experience with muscle tissue and functional assay development is required. A proven ability to attract significant research funding, evidence of strong scientific output, and previous experience supervising junior staff are essential.
