Job summary

Suffolk County Council is seeking a Senior Reablement Support Worker in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, to help customers regain independence and stay safely at home. The role includes leading reablement support, risk assessments, and supporting new staff, with a shift pattern including mornings, evenings, and alternate weekends.

You will work closely with the Home First Team Leader and colleagues to deliver high-quality care, and contribute to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable residents.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 qualification in Care, Care Certificate, or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards one.
• Experience in frontline care delivery.
• A caring, compassionate, and person-centred approach.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and confidence using email and mobile applications.
• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Confidence in lone working, making sound decisions, and recognising when concerns need to be escalated.
• The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Completing initial risk assessments with customers to identify and manage potential risks, ensuring safe and effective reablement support.
• Acting as a senior point of contact for Reablement Support Workers, providing guidance, support, and advice.
• Supporting the development of new team members through shadowing opportunities and sharing your knowledge and experience.
• Working closely with the Home First Team Leader and assisting with delegated tasks, including medication observations and supporting the training of new staff.
• Delivering high-quality frontline care and, where required, supporting customers with dignified personal care.
• Collaborating with assessment colleagues to monitor customer progress and support the achievement of agreed goals and outcomes.
