Job summary

Arup in the UK is seeking a Senior Rail Operations and Systems Analyst to join our Rail Systems and Operations team in London, Birmingham, or Nottingham. You will connect technical detail with whole-railway outcomes, applying systems engineering across the full project lifecycle to deliver safe, reliable, operable and sustainable railways.

You’ll work on major rail enhancement programmes, digital signalling and train control schemes, and feasibility studies, leading technical work packages,

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline with Chartered Engineer status (or close to).
• Strong experience in rail systems engineering or systems engineering within a railway environment.
• Practical application of SE principles across complex projects (requirements management, integration, V&V, assurance).
• Experience in rail operational planning and system modelling techniques.
• Broad understanding of railway systems and interactions between signalling, rolling stock, power, communications, and operations.
• Experience leading technical tasks or work packages with stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work packages on rail projects and deliver integrated solutions.
• Translate operational needs into practical design outputs and interfaces.
• Support bids, project delivery and development of junior team members.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to varied stakeholders.
