Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in a hybrid role based in Cheadle, UK. You will lead design production, estimates, and work packages for bids and projects, ensuring safety and client requirements are met.

Mentoring junior staff and collaborating across disciplines are key parts of the role. You will work two days per week from the Cheadle office, using CAD and ProjectWise, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail SCADA & telecoms engineering environment.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and safety management.
• Ability to produce metrics as part of QA & control.

Responsabilités

• Translate project needs into technical specifications and designs.
• Design and develop solutions using industry best practice.
• Collaborate with supply chain to understand product offerings.
• Create buildable, maintainable designs meeting standards and legislation.
• Identify technical debt and bottlenecks; implement fixes.
• Troubleshoot issues and determine root causes with effective solutions.
• Provide independent peer review, checking and approval of designs.
• Mentor junior engineers in design principles and practices.
• Work with other disciplines to ensure successful delivery.
• Follow project delivery processes and use defined tools.
• Stay up-to-date with Hitachi Rail tech and third-party developments.
• Support work package managers with status, progress, and forecasting.
