Job summary

Hitachi Rail Gts Uk Limited is seeking a Systems Engineer to help design, develop, and maintain rail systems across the UK. The role is hybrid with two days per week in our offices in London, Birmingham or Cheadle, with location dependent on bids.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical specifications, manage interfaces, and contribute to test plans and delivery processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems development and understanding of systems engineering principles.
• Experience in disciplines transferable to rail engineering.
• Ability to use system engineering tools (DOORS/Polarion/CodeBeamer) and EA tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively.
• Collaborative across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, designers, customers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other engineering issues
• Work effectively with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the project
• Understand and follow project delivery processes and use defined tools as set out in the BPM and project plans
• Design and develop solutions using industry best practice
• Conduct User Needs Analysis and contribute to the development of the concept solution
• Carry out requirements capture, analysis and management
• Participate in Value Engineering and contribute to technical trade-off studies
• Generate System Specifications using modelling techniques
• Produce interface designs and specifications
• Produce test plans, specifications and scripts with IVVQ engineers
• Support Work Package Managers with progress forecasting and change/risk management
