Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead design, development and maintenance of rail solutions for bids and projects in the UK. You will mentor team members, collaborate across disciplines and contribute to key architectural decisions to meet customer requirements.

The role is hybrid, based from London, Birmingham or Cheadle offices with at least two days per week on-site. You will report to the Portfolio EDM and shape project delivery using industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
• Experience with systems development and architecture for rail.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable systems solutions for tram and light rail.
• Act as junior EDM and Work Package Manager to monitor progress and forecast remaining work.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define project scope.
• Provide technical input to architectural discussions and tool selections.
• Develop and document technical elements of business cases for variations.
