Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our design team. You will ensure compliance with design processes and client specifications, manage design production and programs for bids, projects and services, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid role based at our Cheadle office.

You will collaborate across engineering disciplines, manage design cycles, address technical debt, and adhere to safety regulations (CDM) while keeping up-to-date with new technologies and standards.

Qualifications

• Requires strong ability to use design tools to produce complex designs.
• Ability to manage design through a defined design process.
• Experience with Quality Assurance & control metrics.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to convert needs into technical specifications.
• Design and develop solutions using industry best practice; engage with supply chain on product offerings.
• Produce buildable, maintainable designs meeting customer requirements and standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on design principles and practices.
• Support Work Package Managers with status and forecasting for remaining work.
