Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal or Chief Civil Engineer to lead railway civil and stations projects within our Bridges and Civils team. You will shape designs, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and collaborate with national and international groups to deliver solutions for notable UK schemes.

The role requires CRE/Engineering Manager experience, a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, and CEng/IEng with ICE or IStructE membership.

Qualifications

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and ICE/IStructE membership.
Experience as CRE or Engineering Manager for railway civil works or stations.
Proven client engagement with Network Rail, HS2, local authorities or major contractors.

Responsibilities

Act as CRE or Engineering Manager on railway civil projects and stations.
Develop high-quality civil/structural designs for new builds, renewals, and maintenance.
Lead multi-disciplinary design teams and drive collaboration across UK and international groups.
Review design documentation, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, and calculations.
Engage stakeholders and manage internal and external interfaces.
Identify opportunities and lead bids, expanding client relationships.
Keep up-to-date with Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards.
