Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior/Associate Principal Engineer to lead civil and structural design for rail and major infrastructure across the UK Midlands region. You’ll guide projects from concept to delivery, manage multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and stakeholders.

Based in the Midlands, you’ll contribute to high-profile schemes like Midlands Rail Hub and East West Rail within a collaborative, hybrid-working culture that values expertise and diverse perspectives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and ICE/IStructE membership.
• Experience as CRE/Deputy CRE or Workpackage Manager in railway works.
• Experience with Network Rail, HS2, local authorities or major contractors.
• Strong knowledge of design standards (Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW).

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality civil/structural designs for rail and civils projects.
• Lead design teams and review documentation, sketches and calculations.
• Manage scopes, budgets, programme and quality of deliverables.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and lead bids/tenders.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders across multidisciplinary projects.
