Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join projects in Doncaster, including work on National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme. You will lead commercial activities across work packages, manage subcontracts, valuations, and reporting, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

The role requires NEC contract knowledge, a QS degree, and experience in major infrastructure or power projects.

Qualifications

Degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management.
RICS membership is desirable.
Strong NEC contract knowledge.
Experience on power or major infrastructure projects.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to manage risk while driving commercial performance.

Responsibilities

Manage all commercial and QS duties across work packages.
Measure, value and agree works.
Prepare and manage interim applications and payment certs.
Draft, manage and close subcontracts.
Oversee live subcontracts: performance, changes, valuations, payments and obligations.
Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting.
Prepare, manage and negotiate claims and final accounts.
Identify, price and manage change control processes.
Advise project teams on contractual obligations and risks.
Produce contract reviews and management reports.
Support project budget establishment from award.
Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders.
Mentor and support junior commercial team members.
