Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team delivering major infrastructure and power projects in Doncaster. You will manage all commercial and quantity surveying duties across live subcontracts, support change control, and produce forecasts and final accounts while mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying is required.
• Experience managing live subcontract packages under NEC contracts.
• Experience on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage commercial risk while driving project performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages.
• Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works.
• Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications.
• Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts.
• Managing live subcontracts, including commercial performance, change, valuations, payments, and contractual obligations.
• Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting.
• Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts.
• Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes.
• Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities.
• Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management reports.
• Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage.
• Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor Opportunity:

Laing O'Rourke are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team working across projects in Doncaster.

We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.

What will the role look like?

• Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages

What skills & experience are we looking for?

• Experience managing live subcontract packages under NEC contracts.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying; RICS membership is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage commercial risk while driving project performance.
