Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on the Net Zero Teesside project, ensuring robust governance and effective change control across challenging industrial works.

You will manage costs from initial estimates to final accounts, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with clients and supply chains to maximise value for money while delivering on time and to the required quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major construction or industrial projects.
• Strong commercial management with the ability to control costs from estimates to final accounts.
• Expertise in change control and negotiation of compensation events under NEC contracts.
• Understanding of contract administration, governance, risk, and opportunity management.
• Experience collaborating with clients and project teams to secure timely change agreements.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of designated work packages, ensuring cost control from estimates to final accounts.
• Support the Commercial Manager/MQS in delivering the NZT project with governance compliance.
• Lead client change management, pricing, negotiating, and securing compensation events promptly.
• Ensure contract adherence and proactively manage risks and opportunities.
• Produce valuations, forecasts, cost reports, and commercial submissions for decision-making.
