Job summary

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of construction projects from procurement through to final accounts. Based in Manchester city centre, you will drive cost reporting, variations and profitability, collaborating with Contracts Managers, Project Managers and clients.

The role requires solid Senior QS experience, strong contract knowledge and the ability to mentor junior surveyors.

Qualifications

Solid experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
Strong ability to manage the full commercial process: procurement, subcontractor packages, valuations, variations, forecasting, cost reporting and final accounts.
Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk management.
Experience mentoring or managing junior Quantity Surveyors is a plus.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of commercial management of construction projects, ensuring delivery aligns with budgets and financial expectations.
Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiate packages, place orders and handle valuations and variations.
Monitor costs, prepare forecasts and produce commercial reports for the leadership team.
Identify and manage commercial risks, working with operations to resolve issues early.
Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers and support junior colleagues.
