Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Regional Civils division across the Central and South East portfolio. The role combines hands-on project involvement with leadership of a small team of Quantity Surveyors, delivering strong commercial performance and contractual control.

You will provide commercial guidance, manage risk, oversee change control and cost reporting, and work closely with Project Directors and operational teams to drive project

Competenze

• Substantial experience in Quantity Surveying and commercial management within civil/infrastructure.
• Proven experience managing the commercial performance of major projects, with margin, risk, cost, cash flow awareness.
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness; ability to identify opportunities and manage risk.
• Experience leading, managing and developing commercial teams.
• Ability to influence and communicate with project teams and stakeholders.
• Business acumen to develop and implement commercial strategies supporting profitability targets.
• Significant sector experience across civil engineering or major construction projects.
• CSCS card holder; desirable professional body membership (RICS/CIOB/ICE/RIBA/CIBSE).

Mansioni

• Lead and manage the commercial performance of projects with robust control.
• Manage, develop and guide a team of Quantity Surveyors.
• Collaborate with project management to implement commercial strategy and margins.
• Manage project cost and value reporting aligned with budgets and tender allowances.
• Produce accurate cost-to-complete forecasts and monitor against budgets.
• Own change control; value variations and secure contract approvals.
• Proactively manage cash flow, valuations and payment applications.
• Maintain robust commercial records for variations, entitlements and claims.
• Lead subcontract procurement, evaluation and contract documentation.
• Ensure subcontract packages reflect Main Contract obligations.
• Interface with customers, subcontractors, supply chain and internal teams.
• Provide monthly cost/value reporting and contribute to project reviews.
• Lead final accounts negotiations and settlements with subcontractors.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures, BIM usage, and Zero Harm policies.
• Support sustainability objectives and demonstrate leadership in commercial function.
