Senior Quantity Surveyor required in Chelmsford for a major design and build contractor delivering UK water sector projects. Hybrid working available; permanent or contract option.

You will lead commercial management of projects and work packages, reporting costs, value, and forecasts while coordinating with design, operations and supply chain teams. The role suits an experienced QS with NEC contracts knowledge and experience in water, utilities, civil engineering or MEICA.

Qualifications

• Experience of NEC contracts in water/utilities projects.
• Strong cost control, reporting and forecasting capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractor and supply chain activity.
• Degree or equivalent commercial qualification preferred.
• Experience delivering in MEICA/civil/water sectors is advantageous.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Chelmsford

Location: Chelmsford, Essex – Hybrid Working

Job Type: Permanent or Contract

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major design and build contractor delivering long-term projects across the UK water sector.

The role would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, although applications are also welcomed from strong Quantity Surveyors looking to take the next step into a Senior QS position.

Candidates with experience of NEC contracts and water, utilities, civil engineering or MEICA projects would be particularly well suited.

The position is based from Chelmsford with hybrid working available, and the client is open to considering either a permanent appointment or an experienced contractor.

Working as part of an established commercial team, you will take commercial responsibility for projects and key work packages, working closely with operational, design and supply chain teams.

Responsibilities

• Commercial management of projects and work packages
• Managing project costs, value, budgets and forecasts
• Preparing cost and value reports
• Managing applications for payment
• Managing the main contract and ensuring appropriate contractual notices and correspondence are raised
• Preparing and issuing subcontract documentation
• Supporting the procurement and management of subcontractors
• Liaising with design, construction and supply chain teams to monitor and control cost
• Working collaboratively with the client and wider project team
• Supporting and developing junior members of the commercial team where appropriate

About You

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within water, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or MEICA
• Good working knowledge of NEC contracts
• Experience commercially managing projects or significant work packages
• Strong subcontract and supply chain management experience
• Experience with applications for payment, forecasting, cost reporting and commercial controls
• A degree or equivalent commercial qualification would be advantageous
