As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within our Decommissioning team, part of the Nuclear & Power Division, you will deliver excellence across significant atomic projects, ensuring sustainable and safe decommissioning processes. You will work closely with colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and contractors, with opportunities to mentor and advance your career.

Our Decommissioning division employs over 400 staff, supported by a strong supply chain, generating over £40m annually through various frameworks and contracts. We are expanding, offering diverse and growing opportunities, and our commercial function is vital to support all delivery aspects.

This role is a key part of the Decommissioning Commercial Team, representing us with JV Partners, Supply Chain Partners, and Clients.

Your Purpose
  • Lead and support colleagues to enhance our commercial team.
  • Manage approximately £75m annual contractual spend, including reporting on costs, invoicing, and timesheets across multiple contract types, facing clients and subcontractors.
  • Develop and implement tools to automate and improve performance, potentially utilizing AI, automation, and zero-time-input mechanisms.
  • Demonstrate leadership in commercial and collaborative efforts across clients and partners, focusing on NEC4 contract delivery and managing contract nuances.
  • Manage client interfaces, including warnings, variations, and risk management, escalating issues as needed.
  • Oversee procurement strategies, tendering, negotiations, and agreements within our supply chain, emphasizing support for SMEs.
  • Contribute to the social value agenda from a commercial perspective.
  • Optimize performance incentives to improve client satisfaction and increase margins through savings and collaborative practices.
  • Support the development of the commercial team alongside project management and controls throughout project lifecycles.
What You Can Bring
  • Contractual knowledge, especially with NEC3/4.
  • Procurement experience, including strategy development.
  • Proactive, collaborative behavior, ISO44001:2017 awareness beneficial.
  • Experience with online management portals like CEMAR, Asite, etc.
  • Understanding of risk management and commercial risk strategies.
  • Knowledge of various contract options (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, etc.).
  • Basic evaluation skills for construction/demolition programmes.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent; professional status (MRICS, MCIPS) desirable.
