Hybrid Working in Glasgow (would also be open to candidates based in either Edinburgh or Aberdeen - as our client also has offices there)

The Company:

A dynamic Construction Consultancy is seeking Quantity Surveyors at various levels - QS, Senior QS, and Associate - to support major projects in the Power and Energy sector in Scotland and across the UK. Bandings (dependant on location/ experience):

  • Quantity Surveyor (£45k - £65k)
  • Senior Quantity Surveyor (£52k - £78k)
  • Associate (£72k - £88k)

Responsibilities:

Quantity Surveyor
  • Deliver accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Administer contracts in alignment with project objectives and governance policies.
  • Proactively manage cost variances, cash flow, and valuations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure programme performance, cost control, and value engineering objectives are met.
  • Assist with procurement and tender evaluations.
Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Lead commissions and oversee cost management delivery.
  • Manage contract change processes and ensure compliance with governance and best practices.
  • Provide commercial guidance to clients and stakeholders.
  • Drive improvements in budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting accuracy.
  • Support the professional development of junior team members.
Associate
  • Take a leadership role in delivering high-value commissions, often large or complex.
  • Act as the key client interface, building strong relationships and ensuring client objectives are met.
  • Lead teams to deliver quality services on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the full procurement process, including contract negotiation.
  • Promote innovation and efficiency within the consultancy and for client projects.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Memberships: Ideally MRICS, MCIPS, or working towards similar.
  • Contract Knowledge: Strong understanding of NEC3/4 contracts (Option C preferred).
  • Sector Experience: Proven track record in Power, Energy, High Voltage, Transmission, or Renewables; however, other similar sectors would also be considered (as long as you have experience using NEC Contracts).
  • Extensive leadership experience in cost/commercial management.
  • Comfort with complex project delivery and client-facing responsibilities.
