Job summary

AWC Group in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage costs and maximise value for money while ensuring standards and quality. You will lead a small commercial team, drive CPD and governance compliance, and guide lean and digital opportunities across projects.

You will mentor colleagues towards professional qualification and contribute to procurement, scheduling and financial reporting within a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge.
• MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them.
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
• Chartered Member of RICS, ICES or CIOB preferred.
• Experience in managing a small commercial team and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules and tender analyses.
• Critically appraise, estimate and negotiate with 3rd parties.
• Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location.
• Assist with delay and disruption programmes.
• Monitor subcontract activities and report on progress.
• Prepare internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation.

Job description

Experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. They will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities. Commercial Management and Administration
• Orders information and systematically checks data
• Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
• Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
• Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location,
• Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
• Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
• Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and report to senior project staff.

Customer/Change Management

• Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and stakeholder management
• Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
• Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
• Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility

Procurement

• Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes.
• Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy.

Development, Recruitment and Retention

• Supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members

Essentials - The following qualifications or their equivalent are essential:
