VGC Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the management of contractual and financial aspects of construction projects in the Plymouth area.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of quantity surveying experience in construction or infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred.
  • CSCS White PQP/AQP and relevant academic qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and cost control.
  • Proficient in CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift.

  • Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Prepare financial reports and cost analyses for stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and team members.
  • Assist in dispute resolution related to costs and contracts.

Job description

My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The Senior QS plays a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects.

This role involves preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and according to specifications.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Requirements
  • Professionally qualified operator with at least 3 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 5 years experience
  • Academic Qualifications - Quantity Surveying (HNC, BSc, MSc).
  • CSCS - White PQP/AQP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred.
  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
  • Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
