Job summary

Parker Jones Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to estimate and control costs on heavy civils projects, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards and meeting client expectations.

You will be involved at every stage of a project, prepare valuations, cost reports, procurement schedules, and manage subcontractor accounts, with a focus on change control and risk management. The role is based in London with on-site duties as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quantity surveying experience.
• Experience in heavy civils is essential.
• Knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
• Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ideally a minimum of 2 years as a Senior QS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
• Prepare valuations/applications for payment with contract documentation.
• Prepare cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documents.
• Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
• Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.

Job description

The role

You will be responsible for estimating and controlling costs for projects making sure that structures meet legal and quality standards.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved at every stage of a project.

Some of your duties will include:

• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.
• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required

To be successful in this position the Senior Quantity Surveyor must have:

• Experience in heavy civils is a MUST
• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
• Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Have at least 5 years QS experience and ideally a minimum of a 2 years as a SQS
