Job summary

A leading construction and surveying firm is seeking a Quantity Surveyor responsible for managing project costs from feasibility to final account. You will focus on estimating, budgeting, and commercial management while collaborating with clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Candidates should have a degree in Quantity Surveying and a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience, ideally managing large residential projects. Strong IT skills are necessary for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Experience managing residential projects upwards of £250,000,000.
  • Good understanding of engineering and construction principles.

Job description

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing project costs from feasibility through to final account. The role focuses on estimating, budgeting, commercial management and contractual compliance while working closely with internal teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while maximising value.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Must have proven experience in Managing residential Projects upwards of £250 000 000
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (or working toward)
  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant industry experience preferred
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and measurement software
  • Experience in working challenging and demanding environments
  • Experience in Managing Contractors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with clients to understand project requirements
  • Conduct feasibility and viability assessments
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets and project timelines
  • Produce tender documentation, contracts and Bills of Quantities
  • Implement risk management and value engineering strategies
  • Analyse repair and maintenance costs
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing and delivery schedules
  • Measure and value subcontractor works for payment certification
  • Monitor cost control and project financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and quality standards
  • Provide budget tracking and progress reports
  • Advise on contractual matters, claims and disputes
  • Support funding applications and project initiation
  • Contribute to business development activities
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
