Job summary

United Living Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Utilities Infrastructure team in Warrington. The role leads on commercial activities, managing subcontractor payments and contract administration to deliver successful project outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have civil/infrastructure experience, a BSc in Quantity Surveying, and ideally MRICS/MCIOB. Proficiency in Excel/Access and strong data analytics are essential, with site engagement and driving licence required.

Qualifications

  • Civil or infrastructure experience required.
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or related commercial degree.
  • MRICS or MCIOB desirable.
  • Strong data interrogation skills and commercial awareness.
  • Line management experience is a plus.
  • CSCS card at appropriate level and valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate terms of subcontracts and manage payments.
  • Monitor contract obligations and progress against programme, cost and key events.
  • Produce monthly cost/value reconciliations and valuations.
  • Prepare and maintain change registers and project commercial reports.

Job Description

As a rapidly growing business, our Utilities Infrastructure team are looking for a new Senior Quantity Surveyor to contribute to our success. You are to be the commercial lead on projects and be responsible for the commercial success of the projects whilst adhering to commercial administration procedures. To promote and deliver a collaborative environment with both the client and throughout the management of the subcontract / supply chain account.

Contract Management Responsibilities
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of subcontracts.
  • Manage and process payments for specialist subcontracts and key suppliers.
  • Ensure strict compliance with contract terms, conditions, rights, and obligations.
  • Report monthly on the outturn Pain/Gain (if applicable).
  • Coordinate changes or amendments in accordance with NEC 3/4 Option A & C contract.
  • Analyse the impact of changes and assess liability exposure.
Contract Administration
  • Monitor and track contract obligations.
  • Undertake site visits to administer the contract in line with project progress.
  • Monitor and report on contract performance in terms of program, cost, and key events/issues.
  • Perform the closeout process, ensuring all contract terms are met and payments are verified.
  • Obtain and execute any required forms, reports, or clearances and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Collaborate with both clients and subcontractors in all duties.
Budget Management
  • Work with the project team to evaluate the impact of budget changes.
  • Capture and report cost variances.
  • Collate Defined Cost Records for client audit.
Reporting And Documentation
  • Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation.
  • Generate Earned Value Analysis reports.
  • Validate Subcontract Applications/Payments data.
  • Review and validate weekly cost monitors, comparing forecasted costs with actual costs.
  • Prepare monthly valuations.
  • Maintain change registers.
  • Provide commercial elements for the commercial report.
Qualifications
  • Civil or Infrastructure experience
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial related course
  • Professional qualification MRICS or MCIOB desirable
  • Good data interrogation skills
  • Line Management experience
  • Commercial Awareness with good legal/contractual knowledge and experience
  • Experience of Management accounts
  • Proficient in Microsoft office particularly Excel, Access and keen to extend knowledge on software packages
  • Previous experience in construction or similar sector
  • Valid driving licence
  • CSCS card at appropriate level
