Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services in Tees Valley is seeking a Lead Quantity Surveyor to manage all commercial aspects of major civil projects. You will lead a small team, prepare tenders and forecasts, and drive cost control across our projects.

The role requires a BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, chartered or working towards chartered status with RICS/ICES/CIOB, and NEC4 experience. Knowledge of LEAN and procurement strategies is essential.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Chartered status or working towards with RICS/ICES/CIOB (MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB).
• CSCS card for a Professional Qualified Person.
• Experience with Cost Reimbursable Contracts, ideally NEC4 Option E.
• Experience on build projects in civil engineering/rail/major civils infrastructure.
• Skilled in commercial management software and contract administration.

• Supervise and mentor a small team of junior commercial staff, supporting their professional development towards industry qualifications.
• Prepare and analyse tender documents, conduct cost forecasting, and manage contract cost control.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and manage customer and stakeholder commercial relationships.
• Use your expertise to support procurement strategies and constructability analyses.
• Maintain compliance with company governance, embracing LEAN and digital tools.
• Deliver timely commercial reports and financial reconciliations to senior project staff.

Experience Required:

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Chartered or working towards chartered status with RICS, ICES, or CIOB (MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB).
• Valid CSCS card for a Professional Qualified Person.
• Experience with Cost Reimbursable Contracts, ideally NEC4 Option E.
• Previous experience on build projects, ideally in civil engineering, Rail construction or major civils infrastructure.
• Skilled in commercial management software and contract administration.
