Job summary

Nabu Casa is seeking a Senior Python Integration Engineer for Hardware to own the Python software layer that connects its hardware products to the Home Assistant ecosystem. You will write integrations and device support code across Home Assistant and ESPHome, collaborating with Hardware and Embedded Linux teams to deliver reliable user experiences.

The role sits at the boundary of hardware and software, focusing on client-side integration and application layers rather than firmware.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience including async/await and testing.
• Meaningful experience contributing to large open-source projects with public PRs.
• Experience building integrations or software for connected devices.

Responsibilities

• Own integrations and software for Home Assistant, ESPHome, and Open Home ecosystems.
• Write and maintain Python integrations and device support code.
• Collaborate with Hardware and Embedded Linux teams to translate hardware capabilities into software.
• Contribute to Home Assistant core and ESPHome projects as needed.
• Maintain well-tested, maintainable Python code with good documentation.
• Review community PRs and issues for owned integrations.
