Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Principal Surveyor to join the Strategic Property Management team. You will lead on estate management, property transactions, and major capital projects, shaping the Council’s profits and performance from its property assets.

You will supervise staff, manage a diverse portfolio, and sign off on valuations while developing property strategies and asset management plans. Hybrid working and a strong benefits package are available.

Formación

• Degree in surveying or equivalent and MRICS with CPD evidence.
• Experience in property management including estates, acquisitions, disposals, valuations and landlord/tenant matters.
• Strong knowledge of property and strategic asset management with excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise and direct the work of Surveyors and Senior Surveyors.
• Lead on acquisition and disposal of land and property interests from instruction through to completion.
• Manage the Council’s income-generating portfolio including leases, tenancy agreements, inspections and landlord/tenant matters.
• Complete and sign off valuations including market and capital accounting valuations.
• Lead on major capital projects delivering property requirements.
• Support development of property strategies, asset management plans and review programmes.
• Identify opportunities to optimise land and property use and dispose of under-performing assets.
• Manage complex projects and oversee external consultants and agents.
