Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Capital Delivery Project Engineering team, delivering projects across our sewage treatment works in the Thames Valley. You’ll act as part of Thames Water’s intelligent client team, providing the engineering expertise and technical assurance needed to ensure our contractors deliver safe, compliant and best-value solutions.

Qualifications

• An HNC or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience developing technical project solutions and/or engineering briefs.
• A good understanding of project delivery within a process industry.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements within the construction industry, CDI/CDM Regulations.
• Competence and practical understanding of wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
• An understanding of industrial processes within your engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk-management skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and consultants.
• A collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge technical decisions and support the delivery of safe, compliant and best-value solutions.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the development of clear project briefs from Asset Management needs.
• Engage with stakeholders and support optioneering to agree technical solutions.
• Oversee project development across Thames Valley sewage treatment works.
• Identify project risks and coordinate mitigation activities.
• Prepare for and support technical reviews during definition, de-risking and design stages.
• Provide design sign-off between Asset Management and Capital Delivery.
• Undertake technical assurance checks and audits of contractor activities.
• Ensure compliance with scope requirements, asset standards and CDM regulations.
• Provide technical assurance during delivery, commissioning and handover.
• Help reduce costs through risk management and best-value engineering decisions.
• Coach and mentor colleagues for professional development.
