Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer - Nuclear (Contract)

Working with one of BakerHicks' key clients in the Nuclear sector, working in a highly regulated environment, subject to strict security and safety requirements, this client provides customers with engineering and project management services, as well as digital services and solutions to optimise the performance of complex infrastructure projects throughout their life cycle.

You will join this client team as a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer, working onsite with their end client, supporting the upgrade and maintenance of facilities and future programs. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to author, develop, assess, and maintain Engineering Design Substantiation documents for their facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements.

This role is a 12 month+ contract, and will require 3 days onsite at the end client facilities.

What you will do

• Author, develop, assess, and manage Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
• Manage design changes/concessions and present design substantiations to safety committees.
• Develop Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and safety reports.
• Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders and conduct Independent Technical Reviews.
• Apply engineering knowledge to design, develop, and maintain engineering processes and systems.
• Justify civil/structural design modifications in a high hazard industry.
• Review technical reports and safety case submissions.

What you will bring

• Experience in current design standards and practices, capable of contributing to concept design, detailed design, and construction stages across various electrical engineering projects.
• Experience in assessing electrical equipment for hazards and specifying systems for HV and LV networks.
• Experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Familiarity with industrial machinery.
