Job Opportunity: Engineering Manager (Nuclear Industry)

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in managing multi-discipline engineering teams and knowledge of regulatory compliance within the nuclear industry? If so, read on for more details!

Note: Due to the security nature of this programme, all candidates must be UK born.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee engineering support across various programmes of work. This is a contract role classified inside IR35.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  1. Managing safety cases and engineering workstreams to ensure project completion within the design life.
  2. Developing and maintaining the Safety Justification Plan.
  3. Collaborating with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles to meet Defence Authority (DA) requirements.
  4. Ensuring compliance with site-specific Safety Management Arrangements, processes, and procedures.
  5. Providing guidance to Safety Case and Design Engineers.
  6. Contributing to programme optioneering processes.
  7. Promoting professional behaviour within the engineering team.
  8. Sharing Learning from Experience (LfE) effectively within the team.
  9. Fostering a culture of collaboration and transparency.
  10. Preparing and delivering safety case and engineering presentations.
  11. Facilitating clear communication between the programme team and stakeholders.
  12. Adhering to policies related to Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality, and helping improve these standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or the ability to attain it.
  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear industry standards and site Authorised Conditions, including DA responsibilities.
  • Experience with technical assurance activities and compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in producing technical documentation.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Basic health and safety training for site visits.
  • Experience with nuclear safety cases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Supervision and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
