Job summary

Cellular Origins seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own critical modules of a robotic manufacturing platform. You will design precision electromechanical devices, moving concepts to manufacturable products with robust performance.

You will collaborate with mechanical, software, robotics and biology teams, applying tolerance analyses, FEA, and motor calculations to ensure repeatable, reliable results in demanding environments and GMP-like settings.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree or science-based degree with industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience designing precision devices across length scales from microns to millimetres.
• Proven experience delivering complex electromechanical products into manufacture.
• Experience working in cross-functional / cross-disciplinary teams.
• Experience using analytical techniques for design decisions, especially tolerance analyses, FEA and motor calculations.
• Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally SolidWorks.
• Deep knowledge of material selection and manufacturing processes.
• Experience iterating designs until reliability, not just functionality.

Responsibilities

• Own the detailed mechanical design of critical modules within our robotic manufacturing platform.
• Turn early concepts and prototypes into stable, manufacturable designs that perform consistently.
• Build detailed tolerance analyses and use analytical techniques to understand and improve performance.
• Make thoughtful decisions around materials, manufacturing methods and component design.
• Work hands-on with prototypes and hardware, learning quickly and feeding back into better designs.
• Collaborate closely with engineers from other disciplines to solve system-level challenges.
• Use your experience to spot risks early and guide designs from “it works” to “it works all the time”
• Help raise the standard of mechanical design across the team by sharing judgement, methods and experience.
