Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner to lead on high-quality social work practice within the Fostering Service, focusing on kinship care reforms and Mockingbird-inspired support for carers and children.

You will work with Heads of Service to implement new initiatives, strengthen safeguarding practices and ensure the voice of the child remains central across all fostering activities. The role is based in Birmingham with hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Lead and develop social work practice at operational level.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Kinship fostering and SGO regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with national policy and developments in kinship care.
  • Provide leadership, support and professional challenge to your team.
  • Experience of working with children and families in safeguarding environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on quality assurance and policy across the Fostering service.
  • Develop Mockingbird-type support schemes for carers and children.
  • Support Heads of service on new initiatives and kinship practice developments.
  • Prioritise the voice of the child and carers in service delivery.
