Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner in Kinship Fostering to lead a dedicated Kinship Support Team and supervise social workers, ensuring high-quality assessments and positive outcomes for children. The role is based in Birmingham in a hybrid working arrangement and requires safeguarding expertise.

You will contribute to ongoing development of the kinship local offer, recruitment and retention of foster carers, and the continued delivery of high-quality fostering

Qualifications

  • Experience leading social work practice at an operational level.
  • Good understanding of Kinship fostering and SGO regulations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of national policy and developments in kinship care.
  • Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and strong leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Operationally manage a child-centred service, delivering high-quality assessments and improved outcomes for children.
  • Provide management oversight and supervision to a small number of social workers, supporting ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in quality assurance and practice workshops to continually improve practice.
  • Manage allocated resources to deliver the aims of Birmingham Children’s Trust and develop innovative fostering approaches.
