Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a permanent Senior Practitioner in the Fostering Service to lead kinship care initiatives and shape Mockingbird-style support. You will join a dedicated management team to advance quality assurance and policy development across the service.

The role focuses on safeguarding, championing the voice of the child and carers, and driving continuous improvement in outcomes for children and young people. Hybrid role based in Birmingham with right-to-work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience leading social work practice at an operational level with performance management.
• Strong knowledge of Kinship fostering and SGO regulations and national policy developments.
• Commitment to positive outcomes for children and young people with leadership and professional challenge.
• Experience in safeguarding environments and promoting continuous improvement in service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop Mockingbird-type support schemes for the Fostering service.
• Lead on quality assurance and policy development across the service.
• Support Heads of service in new initiatives and kinship local offer development.
• Drive recruitment, support, and retention of foster carers with child-centred focus.
