Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner for the Kinship Fostering team in Birmingham. You will lead and supervise social workers, oversee high‑quality assessments, and drive practice improvements within a family‑focused service.

The role emphasises kinship care, quality assurance, and supportive leadership across a team of social workers, with a commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes for children and families.

Qualifications

  • Experience of safeguarding environment is desirable.
  • Ability to lead and develop social work practice at an operational level through effective performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Team Manager to operationally manage a child-centred service that complies with all relevant legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements, delivering high-quality assessments, effective support to foster carers, and improved outcomes for children.
  • Provide management oversight and supervision to a small number of social workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality practice and fostering continuous professional development within the team.
  • Take part in quality assurance and practice workshops to continuously improve practice.
  • Effectively manage allocated resources to deliver the aims and objectives of Birmingham Children's Trust, while contributing to the development of innovative approaches to fostering services.
