Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking aSenior / Principal Consultant to join the Power Systems team in the UK. You will deliver protection studies for HV/EHV networks, undertake earthing design, and perform fault current analyses using industry tools.

You will report findings, support bids, and mentor junior engineers while aligning with project programmes. Applicants should have a degree in electrical engineering, strong knowledge of protection schemes, and experience with software like DIgSILENT

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience delivering protection studies for HV/EHV networks.
• Experience in earthing design and safety assessments.
• Strong knowledge of protection schemes and relay coordination.
• Experience with power system analysis software (DIgSILENT, ETAP, IPSA, PSS/E).
• Experience with earthing analysis software (CDEGS, XGSLab).
• Understanding of UK Grid Code and industry standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Ability to manage work packages to programme deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver protection studies for HV and EHV networks and perform fault level assessments.
• Undertake earthing design and safety studies for substations and grid projects.
• Model and analyse systems using industry software and generate reports.
• Support technical proposals, bids, and project planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices; mentor juniors.
