Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Protection Settings Engineer for the North and South Europe Grid System Integration, based in the United Kingdom. You will work on protection settings studies for HV AC transmission substations and offshore wind connections.

Ideal candidates have a Power Electrical Engineering degree, 7+ years in AC substation engineering, strong knowledge of protection schemes, and experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory and arc-flash tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Power Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
Design experience in Electricity Transmission and Distribution.
Solid understanding of protection devices and scheme operation.
Experience with power system analysis and arc-flash analysis software preferred.
Fluent oral and written English.
Ability to analyse and resolve problems.
7+ years’ experience in AC substation engineering (preferred).

Responsibilities

Prepare HV protection settings calculations (low impedance feeder differential, distance protections, transformer biased differential, and busbar protections).
Perform short-circuit fault level calculations per IEC60909 for symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults.
Use DIgSILENT PowerFactory for fault level studies and protection grading reports.
Conduct arc-flash analysis using tools such as Alpi Caneco BT for LVAC 400V systems.
Prepare energisation circuit switching programs and auto-reclosure sequences.
Provide advisory support to project and tendering teams on protection matters.
Collaborate across internal teams to achieve results.
Mentor junior engineers to enhance technical competencies.
