Job summary

GE Vernova’s WAMPAC Centre of Excellence in Edinburgh seeks a Staff Power Systems Engineer to lead and design solutions in wide-area monitoring and control. You will work closely with customers to address power system challenges, drive research, and deliver advanced WAMPAC products and services.

The role emphasizes leadership in projects, collaboration across power systems and software teams, and ongoing development of analytical capabilities with MATLAB/Simulink and other tools.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, focus on Power System Operations, Dynamics, Transients, Stability or Control.
• Must have basic power system modelling tools experience.
• Excellent communication and quick learner with leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership on projects delivering WAMPAC solutions, training, workshops and operational service introductions.
• Act as a key liaison with customers to understand needs and communicate with internal teams.
• Contribute to design and development of Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS) and protection/control products.
• Carry out consultancy analyses including static/dynamic modelling and measurement-based studies.
• Provide knowledge transfer and support to customers to maximize product utilisation and opportunities.
• Support pre-sales activities with technical inputs and customer engagements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for dissemination.
• Travel up to 25% for customer meetings and project work.
