Job summary

GE Vernova Electrification Software UK Limited in Edinburgh seeks a Staff Power Systems Engineer to lead and deliver WAMS and Wide Area Protection & Control solutions. You will drive technical leadership on projects, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with customers to define requirements and execute studies.

You will work across software, control and analytics domains, applying MATLAB/Simulink and other power-system tools to solve complex stability and dynamic problems.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with focus on Power System Operations, Dynamics, Transients, Stability and/or Control.
• Must have a basic understanding and experience with power system modelling tools.
• Fluent in English and able to communicate effectively in meetings and teleconferences.
• Fast learner with willingness to develop knowledge in new areas and conduct robust research.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts verbally, visually and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, with leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on individual projects, delivering WAMPAC solutions and associated training, analysis and workshops.
• Act as a key customer liaison, gathering requirements and communicating opportunities to internal teams.
• Contribute to design and development of WAMS and protection/control products including algorithms and performance requirements.
• Carry out consultancy studies using static/dynamic analysis and measurement-based studies.
• Transfer knowledge and support customers to maximize product utilization and gather feedback for follow-on work.
• Support sales with pre-sales presentations and workshops; engage on customer challenges.
• Prepare technical reports, papers and conference/journal publications. Travel up to 25% for customer interaction and project meetings.
