Job summary

Ideal candidates have power systems modelling experience in transmission or distribution, with DIgSILENT/PowerFactory or similar tools and familiarity with cloud platforms. UK DNO/IDNO experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field.
• Experience in power system modelling, analysis and simulation in transmission or distribution.
• Proficiency with industry tools DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD or CYME.
• Strong understanding of protection, fault studies and grid code compliance.
• Experience translating requirements into technical models and studies.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) is advantageous.

We are particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have gained experience within a UK DNO, IDNO, Network Operator, or System Operator environment, and have a strong understanding of network constraints, hosting capacity, and the optimisation of existing grid infrastructure.

Key Requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in power system modelling, analysis, and simulation within transmission or distribution networks.
• Strong proficiency with industry-standard simulation tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, or CYME.
• Solid understanding of power system fundamentals, including protection systems, fault studies, stability analysis, harmonics, and grid code compliance.
• Experience translating customer, operational, or network requirements into technical models, studies, and engineering recommendations.
• Exposure to cloud-based software platforms (e.g. Azure or AWS) would be advantageous, although not essential.
• Genuine enthusiasm for emerging technologies and an interest in how software, data analytics, digital twins, and AI can transform power system planning and operations.
