Sustainable Infrastructure in Manchester seeks an experienced Power Systems Engineer to lead delivery of complex electrical infrastructure for data centres and critical facilities. You will guide studies, mentor engineers and interact with clients on UK and international projects.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, Chartered status or active pursuit, and a track record in power systems analysis, load flow, protection coordination and arc-flash studies. Hybrid working available.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered status or actively pursuing CEng.
  • Significant experience delivering power systems for data centres or critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex power systems and substation projects.
  • Undertake and review load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and transient studies.
  • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support proposals, bids and business development activities.
  • Review designs, manage technical risks and ensure programme, budget and quality objectives are met.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and support technical excellence.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, innovation and the development of the Power Systems team.

Power Systems Engineer – Manchester

Location: Manchester, UK | Hybrid

About the Role

A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join its growing Manchester team. You’ll play a key technical and leadership role delivering resilient electrical infrastructure for data centres, mission-critical facilities, utilities and other complex power projects across the UK and internationally.

As a technical lead, you’ll influence projects from concept through delivery, lead multidisciplinary teams, manage technical risk, engage with clients and contribute to the growth of the Power Systems capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex power systems and substation projects.
  • Undertake and review load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and transient studies.
  • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support proposals, bids and business development activities.
  • Review designs, manage technical risks and ensure programme, budget and quality objectives are met.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and support technical excellence.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, innovation and the development of the Power Systems team.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • CEng or actively working towards chartership.
  • Significant experience in power systems design, analysis and delivery within data centres, utilities, renewables or critical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of power system studies and electrical network design.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing client relationships.
  • Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar software.
