Job summary

Thermo Systems is seeking a Senior Controls Systems Engineer to design, validate, and implement power automation solutions across mission-critical facilities. You will develop and maintain control philosophies for medium- and low-voltage systems, generator plants, and ACMS, collaborating with engineers, vendors, and end-clients to ensure design intent aligns with operations.

You will deliver robust automation designs, solve complex control challenges, and contribute to scalable engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Electrical/Power/Automation).
• 5+ years’ experience in power systems engineering, controls engineering, automation, or system integration.
• Experience delivering mission-critical infrastructure including data centers, utility power systems, generator plants, or other critical facilities.
• Experience with generator control systems, electrical distribution, SCADA, and power system automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain power system control philosophies for mission-critical facilities.
• Develop and govern Sequences of Operations (SOO), Cause & Effect Matrices, Interlock Schedules, Alarm Philosophies, Failure Maps, and Operating Modes.
• Create and review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), and control narratives.
• Translate electrical design intent into executable ACMS, PLC, and SCADA control strategies.
• Review control logic, software flowcharts, and system architectures for reliability and safety.
• Conduct assessments of power system resilience, redundancy, and operational risk.
• Support FAT, SAT, IST, and commissioning test procedures for power systems.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.
