Guided by The Thermo Way, we are unified, dynamic, and committed to delivering excellence. Our culture is grounded in three core principles:

  • Employee Success - investing in our people and their growth

  • Customer Success - delivering reliable, high-quality solutions

  • Financial Strength - operating with discipline and long-term focus

We believe strong teams, trusted partnerships, and technical excellence drive sustainable success.

The Opportunity

The Senior Controls Systems Engineer supports the design, development, validation, and implementation of power systems automation solutions across mission-criticacal facilities, including hyperscale data centers, energy infrastructure, and resilient critical power environments.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality engineering deliverables associated with medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, generator plants, black-start schemes, Automatic Control & Monitoring Systems (ACMS), SCADA platforms, and integrated control architectures. The role requires strong collaboration with Engineers of Record (EOR), commissioning teams, vendors, and hyperscale end-clients to ensure complete alignment between design intent, control philosophy, operational resilience, and software implementation.

Success in this role will be measured through the delivery of technically robust automation designs, resolution of complex control challenges, commissioning readiness, stakeholder confidence, successful project execution, and the establishment of scalable engineering standards across mission-criticacal programs. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex power system challenges, driving technical decisions, and serving as a subject matter expert for mission-criticacal power automation and system resiliency.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain power system control philosophies for mission-criticacal facilities

  • Develop, maintain, and govern Sequences of Operations (SOO), Cause & Effect Matrices, Interlock Schedules, Alarm Philosophies, Failure Maps, and Operating Modes

  • Develop and review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), and control system functional narratives

  • Resolve conflicts between SOO, flowcharts, Cause & Effect matrices, and software implementation across all operating modes

  • Translate electrical design intent into executable ACMS, PLC, and SCADA control strategies

  • Perform detailed reviews of control logic, software flowcharts, automation narratives, and system architectures

  • Conduct technical assessments of power system resilience, redundancy, and operational risk

  • Support FMEA and reliability assessments while evaluating transient conditions, restoration sequences, and failure scenarios

  • Develop and maintain FAT, SAT, IST, and commissioning test procedures for power system automation and control systems

  • Validate automation logic and operational scenarios through simulation, testing, and commissioning activities prior to deployment

  • Support value engineering efforts to optimise cost and performance of solutions

  • Review commissioning results and support issue resolution

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards, tools, and processes

  • Support Business Development teams with technical input for proposals and bids as required

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.

  • Communicate clearly and proactively with internal teams, customers, and partners.

  • Act as a technical interface between Engineering, Integration, and Operations teams.

  • Support project leadership in identifying risks, resolving issues, and maintaining delivery alignment.

  • Identify and elevate technical risks, constraints, or scope changes early.

Quality, Safety & Process

  • Adhere to company policies, QMS requirements, and established safety standards

  • Support and enhance the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet high standards of accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Promote structured engineering and documentation practices across all projects

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For
