Job summary

A leading consulting firm in Cheltenham is seeking a Senior PMO Analyst to enhance project portfolio governance. This role involves implementing project management standards, coordinating resources, and providing financial oversight. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and scope definition.

  • Ensure RAID logs are maintained and assist in mitigation strategies.
  • Resource & Workplan Management: Maintain resource allocation schedules and oversee project tools.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Draft and distribute newsletters and executive updates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to PMO tools and practices. Promote automation, standardisation, and best practice sharing.
  • Mentoring & Leadership: Coach junior PMO staff and contribute to the PMO community of practice.

Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Senior PMO Analyst to drive excellence across our project portfolio. This role provides advanced governance, planning, tracking, and reporting support to ensure projects are delivered consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening project controls, improving visibility, and elevating delivery standards across the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Project Support & Coordination: Assist in project planning, scheduling, and scope definition. Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment.
  • Governance & Control: Implement and maintain PMO standards, templates, and processes. Maintain project documentation, including plans, reports, and logs. Ensure consistent tracking of tasks, milestones, risks, dependencies and deliverables. Support audit readiness and compliance with internal and client standards.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare dashboards, status reports, and presentations for stakeholders. Track KPIs, milestones, and deliverables across the portfolio. Analyse project data to identify trends, variance, risks, and improvement opportunities. Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Financial Management: Track budgets, forecasts, and costs across projects. Conduct profitability and variance analysis.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Ensure RAID logs are maintained. Assist in developing mitigation strategies and support the escalation process.
  • Resource & Workplan Management: Maintain resource allocation schedules. Oversee project plans and collaboration tools (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint, Teams, Jira, DevOps).
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Draft and distribute newsletters and executive updates. Facilitate stakeholder alignment and engagement across teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to PMO tools and practices. Promote automation, standardisation, and best practice sharing.
  • Mentoring & Leadership: Coach junior PMO staff and contribute to the PMO community of practice.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential
  • 5+ years of experience in PMO or project support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Power BI, and project management tools (e.g. MS Project, DevOps, Jira).
  • Highly experienced in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in financial tracking and reporting.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with London Market insurance business processes and systems.
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
