Job summary

Motorway is building a new Developer Experience team to enhance our container platform on AWS Fargate. We are growing a team to improve reliability, observability and developer tooling for faster, safer software delivery across production environments.

You will own and evolve production-scale AWS platforms, design self-service tooling, automate workflows, and set standards for monitoring and release practices, while mentoring engineers in a fast-moving scale-up.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of owning and operating web platforms in production at scale.
• Strong experience with AWS in a production environment.
• Experience defining meaningful metrics, monitoring, and alerting for web platforms.
• Experience with platform security controls and observability.
• Experience designing and operating continuous delivery systems with zero-downtime deployments.
• Experience responding to production incidents in on-call environments.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve our AWS environments and shared platform infrastructure for reliability and scalability.
• Design and build self-service tooling for engineers to deploy and operate services.
• Automate common workflows and standardise infrastructure with IaC and platform abstractions.
• Define platform monitoring and alerting standards with meaningful signals.
• Enable product teams to use shared metrics and signals to improve reliability.
• Own and evolve our CI/CD and release capabilities for faster delivery with safety.
• Stay current with best practices in hosting, delivery and developer experience.
• Upskill and mentor other engineers in the team.
