Job summary

Motorway is expanding its Developer Experience team to build a first-class platform for developers. This Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer role focuses on owning and evolving our AWS-based shared platform infrastructure, improving reliability and developer experience across the product and engineering org.

You will design and implement self-service tooling, automate toil, define monitoring standards, and enable product teams with clear metrics.

Qualifications

• Proven track record owning/operating web platforms in production at scale.
• Strong AWS experience in production environments.
• Experience defining meaningful metrics, monitoring and alerting for web platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve AWS environments and shared platform infrastructure for reliability, scalability and ease of use.
• Design and build self-service tooling for engineers to build, deploy, and operate services correctly.
• Automate common workflows and standardise infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and platform abstractions.
• Define and implement platform-level monitoring and alerting standards with meaningful signals.
• Enable product teams to use shared metrics and signals to understand and improve reliability across environments.
• Own and evolve continuous delivery and release capabilities to reduce time to production while maintaining high reliability and safety.
• Stay current with best practices in hosting, CD and developer experience and apply them pragmatically.
• Upskill and mentor other engineers in the team.
