Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer (Physical Security) to lead security capabilities within the Systems Engineering & Assurance discipline, focusing on secure-by-design approaches for transport projects. You will work with clients to shape security strategy, define governance, and deliver proportionate security solutions across a portfolio of rail and mass transit schemes.

Qualifications

• Proven physical security experience coupled with commercial acumen and a desire to lead the development of this capability within an established design consultancy.
• Experience in Physical Security management and processes such as Security Planning, governance, Security Risk Assessments, Security Strategy definition, Security Requirements capture, Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessments, and production of Physical Security assurance reports.
• Competency in applying Physical Security practices covering both physical and personal security needs including Secure by Design, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation design, blast assessments with an ability to develop proportionate, sustainable and innovative resolutions manage risk.
• Previous experience in the UK rail industry with respect to Physical Security management of turnkey mainline or mass transit railway projects.
• Knowledge of security engineering concepts and processes, including project lifecycle delivery and applicable standards and how these integrate within a wider project/programme package.
• Experience of applying multiple methods to convey and integrate Physical security concepts, results and design implications to clients.
• A sound understanding of the impact and potential consequences of Physical Security planning, cost modelling and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and direct ‘the Systra way’, including development of efficient secure-by-design processes for our projects.
• Work in a business development capacity with clients to define security strategy and direction with innovative solutions.
• Design and manage physical security across our projects, delivering proportionate, sustainable solutions.
• Advise on Security overlay to frameworks such as RIBA plan of work, Network Rail Security Assurance Framework and DfT SIDOS.
• Review Physical Security deliverables to verify design meets requirements and processes.
• Support development of a physical security capability across the Systra group, acting as UK contact.
• Guide peers in implementing Physical Security processes, strategies and requirements.
• Prepare and check technical deliverables and assist in expressions of interest and tender responses.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and health/safety requirements.
• Manage project-related correspondence efficiently.
