Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer (Physical Security) to lead security design across major rail and mass transit projects. You will shape secure-by-design processes, advise clients on strategy, and deliver proportionate security solutions.

With deep experience in physical and personal security, you will define governance, conduct risk assessments, and mentor UK teams while ensuring compliance with CDM and industry standards. This role anchors our security capability in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in Physical Security management and processes such as security governance and risk assessments.
• Ability to apply Secure by Design, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation and blast assessments.
• UK rail industry experience with turnkey mainline or mass transit projects.
• Professional membership from a UK security institution (CSyP, RSES or ICAO AvSec PM).

Responsibilities

• Define and direct the Systra way for secure-by-design processes.
• Advise clients on security strategy and project direction with proven frameworks.
• Design and manage physical security across projects, delivering sustainable solutions.
• Review security deliverables to ensure compliance with standards.
• Support development of a physical security capability across the group, UK lead.
• Prepare expressions of interest and tender responses.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and health, safety obligations.
• Manage project-related correspondence.
