Due to continued business growth we have a new opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer, based in Corpach, Fort William.

The working hours will be a minimum of 30 hours per week, however there is scope for this to be a full-time role.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy payroll office.
- Manage and process payroll accurately and within required deadlines.
- Ensure all payroll activities comply with current UK legislation, HMRC requirements and relevant employment regulations.
- Keep up to date with changes to payroll legislation, tax, National Insurance, statutory payments, pensions and other relevant requirements.
- Review payroll calculations and carry out appropriate checks to ensure accuracy.
- Deal with payroll queries from employees, managers and other stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
The successful candidate should have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a payroll role.
- A degree, relevant professional qualification, or equivalent knowledge and experience gained through career or life experience.
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of payroll processes.
- Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
- A commitment to keeping up to date with changes in legislation, regulations and payroll best practice.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Experience of working with payroll software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- The confidence to work independently while also supporting and guiding colleagues.
- Experience of supervising or overseeing a payroll team.
- Experience managing a high-volume payroll.
- Experience dealing directly with HMRC and pension providers.
- Knowledge of employment and payroll requirements.
- Experience of payroll systems and implementing process improvements.
