Job summary

Barclays—Barclaycard Payments is seeking a Solutions Consultant on a 12‑month secondment/FTC to lead technical qualification, design payment solutions, and drive pre‑sales engagement for complex acceptance opportunities.

You will partner with product, services and client teams to understand requirements, design scalable architectures and validate fit across gateway, acquiring and fraud solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in payments and pre-sales engagements.
• Ability to design solution architectures and produce technical designs.
• Understanding of payment gateway architecture and transaction processing.
• Experience designing API-based solutions and integrations with external development teams.
• Proficiency with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication frameworks, POS providers and ISVs.
• Experience producing architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of major e-commerce platforms (Adobe Commerce, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, WooCommerce).
• Understanding of Acquirers, Issuers, Processors, Payment Schemes, PSPs and Fraud Providers.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical qualification and pre‑sales engagement across Gateway, Acquiring and Fraud solutions.
• Act as technical authority through the sales lifecycle, collaborating with Coverage, Product and client teams.
• Produce solution designs, identify risks, and validate feasibility and commercial viability.
• Support customers through architectural decision‑making and ensure proposed solutions align with Barclays capabilities.
• Develop compelling sales pitches and proposals to convert leads into customers.
• Monitor risk and ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
