Job description

We are looking for a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner with Strong Elective Major Orthopaedic experience to join our Operating Theatres Department at The Princess Grace Hospital currently rated "Good" by the CQC. The theatres across our facilities provide a vibrant, exciting and professional environment where the advance equipment and technology is second to none. We work with World Class Surgeons and the latest innovative technology and equipment including Da Vinci Surgical system and have performed over 500 robotic procedure with 2 Davinci robots currently.

The Princess Grace Hospital is recognised as one of the leading multidisciplinary private hospitals in London. The Seven theatres at the Princess Grace provide a vibrant, exciting, and professional environment where the advance equipment and technology is second to none including a hybrids theatre, a robotic surgery suite and 3 laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery. We cover a lot of Major Orthopaedic surgeries including Hips, Knees, Shoulders, replacements and revisions.

What you will do

In this role, you will deliver exceptional care to patients undergoing a wide range of major orthopaedic surgeries, including hip, knee, and shoulder procedures, as well as replacements and revisions. You'll take responsibility for running theatre lists and setting up theatres, while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Your expertise will be vital in preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting the surgical team, and safeguarding patient wellbeing throughout the perioperative period. You will also play an important role in mentoring and supporting junior team members, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow.

Collaboration is key—you'll work closely with colleagues across all areas of the theatre suite, fostering a supportive and cohesive environment that drives team success. Above all, you will uphold the highest standards of safety for both patients and staff at all times.

Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
  • HCPC Registered or NMC pin
  • Strong Major Orthopaedic experience including Hips, Knees, Shoulder replacements (Essential)
  • 3 years experience working as a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner covering Major Orthopaedics
  • Team Player
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Confident to set up theatres and run theatre lists
  • Ability to use initiative and solve situations before escalating to others
